My very long awaited first post is finally here. Life has been really rather hectic over the past few weeks for many reasons, which have now resulted in me being bed bound for the next few weeks, so I thought that perhaps this was now the perfect time to get the blog properly up and running, starting with my latest addiction, stemming from my inability to leave the house; online shopping.
I’ve never been the biggest fan of online shopping just for the sheer reason that I always need to try things on, I never really trust the sizing in the myriad of shops that I frequent and this means that for one reason or another I just don’t like buying something that I am not 100% sure on. But since I’ve been unable to physically go into the shops this sale season I’ve had to put those fears to the back of my mind so that I can ensure I get my hands on a few bargains too and just go for it, and it is safe to say that I’m very glad that I did so, albeit the items I bought I knew for almost definite that they would fit, it was just whether or not they suited me.
So here are the sale buys that I have accumulated over the past few weeks:
And you may wonder why I’ve bought so many new pairs of flat shoes but here is why; I always tend to buy my basic flats from Primark as they always have a large variety for ridiculously cheap prices but I now feel that whenever I buy a pair of these £4 bargain shoes I may as well just throw the money in the bin as that is where the shoes invariably end up within a few weeks of purchase. If they come into contact with rain at all then they are wrecked within a couple of minutes and living in Glasgow means one sunny warm morning when you head out with them on you can guarantee that at some point during the day you will have to traverse through the river rapids that occur when the rain starts and if that happens you may as well just be walking down the street barefooted. Okay rant over, but this constant buy, wear twice before they are ruined, and then disposing of those Primark flats has lead me to look further afield for the perfect pair of affordable shoes that will hopefully survive come rain or shine.

Accessorize £15
I might have let out a slight shriek of delight when I spotted these beauties in the sale and the fact they were an online exclusive led me to putting them into my shopping basket faster than you could imagine, leading me to make my very first ever online purchase in regards to clothes or accessories. However these are the kind of shoes that I will be sad to have to wear out into the big, bad world just in the off chance that they get ruined in the rain or scuffed. Can I not just frame these? Hehe.
Topshop - Blue Floral £7 - Black Floral £10 (£9 with student discount)
Topshop shoes for under a tenner are a rarity, especially ones as pretty and cute and most importantly, comfortable, as these. I do admit I bought the black ones one day before work a good few weeks ago when the sale first started and regretted not buying a second pair almost instantly, only to return to the shop to find that every single pair in my size in every Topshop in town had flown off the shelves. So when I was browsing the Topshop website a couple of days back and saw them in a lovely blue florally colour too I rushed to the online checkout to snatch one of the last pairs in my size before they totally sold out for only £7. I cannot sing the praises of these shoes high enough to be quite honest.
Forever 21 - Boots £5.99 - Cardigan £3.99
You can really find some true gems in the Forever 21 sale and since they introduced a website specifically for UK shoppers I have been absolutely addicted to their site. After discovering this store when I was in America a number of years ago and buying up practically everything that I could have got my hands when there, I had always wished for a way to buy from them without having to wait until I was in the US but the pretty steep shipping rates to the UK had always thwarted those plans but now thanks to their UK website and the fact that they have stores within the British Isles means that my prayers have been answered. And for those prices how could I say no to these two particular purchases?
New Look £10
These were an unbelievable price, in my opinion, for genuine leather moccasins, ones that I knew I would get a lot of wear out of on a day-to-day basis. And the fact that they were navy instead of my usual staple of black for shoes such as these, made them simply irresistible to me and may have just swayed me into ordering two pairs for those very reasons.
My only qualms with online shopping are the shipping prices but really I guess when you think of the transport required to make a simple trip to your nearest high street or shopping centre it kind of works itself out. Also as a student who enjoys some amazing discounts in practically all my favourite shops the fact that only NUS card holders enjoy the discounts is a little bit of an annoyance and inconvenience but one that I just had to deal with really. But overall I was exceptionally impressed with the speed and the quality of the items that I received and it did mean I didn’t have to battle amongst the other shoppers in the manic battles that are the sales, which more than makes up for the minor problems.

Welcome to my blog...
Now that it is summer and I finally have some free time to myself, I have finally convinced myself to start blogging after being inspired by the many amazing blogs that I enjoy greatly and read daily. Also hopefully this will act as a forum that will reignite my creativity levels when it comes to writing and give me somewhere to note down all the things going on inside my head as well as everything I‘m interested in on a day-to-day basis.
A little bit about me then, I’m Ellis, living in Scotland and studying Politics and English at University. I feel like I’m finally finding my way in life when it comes to my style, my confidence and my future prospects but I still wonder what and where on earth I will be in a few years time. Who knows? - This blog may even act as a way of chronicling this transition in life.
Anyway I don’t really have a fixed idea on what I will be posting or what my blog will focus on but hopefully that will come with time. At the moment I’m thinking it will be about my shopping buys and the outfits that I’ve been putting together recently, as I said before, my style and confidence in that style has really changed as I’ve started to step outside my usual comfort zone of jeans and a t-shirt. As well as just sharing my other passions in life along with that.
